You’re about to uncover your new favorite yoga practice, specifically designed for beginners. Recently, I invited my mom to join me in a beginner’s yoga class. Her eyebrows raised in surprise as she asked, “Why would you want to go to a beginner’s class when you’ve been doing yoga for a while?” This question lingered, prompting me to reflect on the simple yet profound beauty of returning to the basics.

I considered starting with a cliché: “Yoga is about the journey, not the destination.” But I hesitated; I didn’t want to scare her off with what might sound like jargon. Instead, I shared that there’s so much value in beginner classes—particularly how they offer a gentle reintroduction after an injury or a period of inactivity.

“Actually, I really enjoy beginner yoga classes,” I confessed. And it’s true. One of the most rewarding aspects of yoga is its accessibility; whether you’re just starting or have years under your belt, revisiting foundational poses can deepen your practice and renew your passion. For me, it’s akin to rediscovering why we embrace this journey called yoga in the first place.

Ultimately, my mom and I opted out of attending an in-person class together. Instead, I curated a list of my favorite YouTube yoga practices tailored for beginners. It struck me then that sometimes we need to eliminate barriers to get started or return fully to our physical selves—everything you need is often just one click away on YouTube. It’s liberating when you adopt that beginner’s mindset.

6 Best Beginner Yoga Practices on YouTube

No matter if you’re new or looking for ways back into fundamentals, these YouTube videos will guide you through some fantastic beginner practices.

1. 10 Minute Yoga for Beginners

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by complex poses while practicing at home alone—fear not! Yoga With Kassandra delivers a slow and intentional 10-minute sequence that eases you into movement. The cues she offers make all the difference during challenging poses like Low Lunge and Down Dog. Free from distracting background music and filled with low-to-the-floor postures, this video creates an inviting atmosphere even if your home isn’t perfect—the kind where one commenter fondly remarked about their cat walking in during practice as if it were divine intervention.

2. 15 Minute Gentle Yoga Flow

This gentle flow by Charlie Follows introduces soothing neck and shoulder stretches before guiding you through grounding movements like stepping back into Plank pose—all while being mindful of variations for those less intense moments (you know those days). The ambient tones combined with soft natural light create an experience that’s both calming and invigorating—a reminder that whatever tension life throws at us can be released with intention.

3. Easy Yoga Stretch for Tension Relief

A ten-minute escape awaits with ‘Yoga With Bird,’ who leads participants through primarily reclined stretches designed for full-body relaxation. Rather than adhering strictly to conventional routines like Cat-Cow sequences, she encourages us simply to listen—to tune into what our bodies crave today rather than yesterday or tomorrow.

4. Feel-Good Flow and Stretch

If balance between challenge and control sounds appealing—and let’s be honest: who doesn’t love feeling strong yet relaxed?—then Akshaya Agnes’s 25-minute session might be exactly what’s needed! From straightforward warm-ups transitioning gradually into more dynamic postures such as Warrior 2 and Triangle Pose—you’ll appreciate her clear guidance throughout every movement while also finding pockets of joy along this beginner’s flow journey!

5. 30-Minute Yoga for Beginners

Nico Marie strikes that perfect chord between helpful instruction without overwhelming newbies or seasoned practitioners alike—her approach encourages participants simply focus on breathwork whilst being gentle enough so rest feels acceptable too! Set against calming melodies interspersed with thoughtful silences lends itself beautifully toward deepening presence within yourself over thirty minutes spent together navigating each sequence laid out thoughtfully before us!

6. Yoga Flow for Beginners

If you’re someone whose mind races ahead during vinyasa flows (guilty!), then check out ‘Intro To Flow’ from Yoga With Adriene! In just twenty-five minutes she’ll introduce essential transitions linking poses seamlessly while allowing ample time between movements so one can ground themselves properly—isn’t that what it really means? Adriene even demonstrates using props effectively too—all serving reminders how supportive tools make any practice feel accessible regardless where we begin!

“Sometimes we need reminders about finding our way back—to ease into breathing deeply again.”
